3 June 2008, Brussels – A number of IBBT research groups from the Belgian universities of Leuven, Gent and Brussels announce a collaboration with leading IT players in the payment industry to thoroughly investigate the possibilities, usability and security of NFC applications. The agreement will also enable the preparation of the Belgian market and speed up the availability of standardized NFC-based products. The NFC Voucher project functions within the Interdisciplinary Institute for Broadband Technology (IBBT), a research institute founded by the Flemish government.

NFC is a short-range, wireless connectivity technology allowing consumers to perform contactless transactions, access digital content and connect electronic devices. The technology will enable consumers to use their mobile phone or device to, for example, make payments, access the public transport or store electronic coupons. There’s an abundance of realistic business opportunities to be explored.

Within the scope of this project a new communication scheme is to be analysed: the viability of NFC-based electronic vouchers as an alternative for popular paper-based vouchers like, for example, meal vouchers, gift vouchers or discount coupons. The different aspects of this NFC-Voucher concept are currently being studied by the different partners such as business model, legal aspects, usability, security, communication cost, etc. Issuing vouchers using the new technology will simplify and influence consumer behaviour.

"The IBBT project will facilitate the introduction of next generation applications such as NFC and will offer new value-added services for the benefit of the Belgian customer" said Bart Preneel, professor at COSIC, K.U.Leuven. "Gathering a group of industry experts with different expertise is a strong asset to develop convenient and secure e-transactions" Mr. Preneel added.

Brussels, 18 June 2008 – Integri, a leading provider of test tools and services for payment, ticketing and mobile applications, today announces that HPS, a provider of electronic payment processing solutions active in the Middle East and on the African continent has selected its technology for testing payment host and terminal connections.

To guarantee a correct functioning of debit and credit payment transactions, it is of key importance that data connections between issuing banks and acquirers are running faultless. With an extensive range of Integri test suites, HPS Middle East & Africa customers are now being offered a flexible and robust instrument to verify a correct data exchange as well as compliance to the HPS proprietary protocols SID and PPWM. The tools are built on the field-proven open Platform INQ®, a test tool development platform enabling easy customization and test script editing.

HPS endorses Integri tools within local banks and acquirers in the Middle East and Africa. The partnership will possibly be extended to a larger region in a next stage.

Abdeslam Alaoui Ismaili, EVP Sales & Customer Care at HPS said: “As a trusted supplier of payments processing software, we have been very demanding throughout the process of selecting a testing business partner, as recommending third party technology can seriously impact our image. However, Integri successfully passed an in-depth quality check and was able to meet our most rigorous requirements.”

Jan De Meester, General Manager at Integri commented: “This partnership enables banks to benefit from a complete offering that combines a payment processing solution with the matching off-the-shelf test tool. We see an increasing demand from the industry for such end-to-end packages as it leads to a shortened time-to-deploy and optimizes cost-efficiency.”

2008/03/04 - Cetecom and Integri launch new test solution for German payment market

Cetecom and Integri link up and launch new test solution for German Payment market

Companies add value to marketplace by offering most flexible test tool equipped with enhanced usability

4 March 2008, Brussels, Belgium and Saarbruecken, Germany – Integri, leading provider of test tools and services for payment, ticketing and mobile applications, and CETECOM ICT Services, leading provider of testing and certification services, announce a collaboration and launch joint solution for the functional testing of German Network Service Providers (NSP).

With the GICC NSP Test Suite, German Network Service Providers can test a correct data exchange of their GICC1 connection to acquirers such as First Data, Citibank, American Express and B+S. Acquirers accept or refuse credit card transactions at stores and point-of-sales and it is therefore imperative that connections between the different players are running faultless. To guarantee optimal functioning, acquirers have defined host type approval test cases to which network operators should comply.

CETECOM will use the PC-based tool in their test laboratory to certify German network service providers prior to connection to an acquiring host. The Network Service providers can use the tool’s acquirer host simulator to prepare for official approval tests in laboratories such as CETECOM. Zentraler Kreditausschuss (ZKA), the German Bank Association, which is responsible for regulating electronic payment applications in Germany, qualified the test bench.

The solution, onto which CETECOM ICT Services built the respective test suite for the GICC NSP Testing, is based on Integri’s open INQ® platform and thus customizable and future-proof. The simulator is adaptable and can be configured to any specific requirements. Besides, more than 1000 possible test scenarios, covering all possible circumstances, are readily available and included. Additionally, it is easy to run a test environment in automated mode ensuring a considerable gain of time. Integri has developed the simulator whilst CETECOM built the different host type approval test cases.

“This collaboration answers an existing need of the Network Service Providers on the German market” says Jan De Meester, CEO at Integri. “They can now use a flexible, qualitative test solution for pre-certification guaranteeing official certification, thus preventing costly modifications”

“CETECOM and Integri are both strong players in the testing market” confirms Gerhard Schirra, Member of the Executive Board at CETECOM. “Combining field-proven testing technology and local knowledge has amounted to a value-added and unique service facility adapted to the German market.”

- end of release -

GICC1 is the protocol based on ISO8583 used in Germany to exchange messages between the Network Service Provider host and the acquirer host. The protocol allows a Point-of-Sale System (POS) of a credit card acceptor to communicate with credit card authorization and data capture hosts.

Brussels, 10 March 2008 – The DIS Group, gathering eight Belgian IT experts working for various IT, Audit and Consulting companies, announces the publication of a book describing procedures and best practices for building and operating eID based trustworthy applications.

As the success of the eID card largely depends on usable and trustworthy systems, the publication of these guidelines is an essential instrument for software development companies and service providers. The book contains a harmonized set of procedures and checklists covering legal aspects, policies, technical issues and implementation concerns. Until today there was no uniform method available on how to build trustworthy applications considering these aspects. Knowing that authorities are increasingly making use of the electronic ID card, the book fills in a gap and answers a real need on the Belgian eID market.

With these guidelines, the Group addresses eID application suppliers and developers’ requirements and aspires to increase the trust between government, the industry and the end-users. M
ultiple purposes are served such as creation and verification of eID based electronic signatures, authentication of eID card holders, authentication verification or card data capture.

“This book, is the first harmonised set of requirements against which applications and services providers can develop and implement trustworthy eID based applications or services”, says Olivier Delos, from SEALED, a consulting company specialised in e-Signatures and eID.

To date, seven million cards have been distributed to civilians in Belgium, a project which will see completion end of 2009 with more than eight million units delivered.

The DIS Group was constituted in 2006 and initiated by L-SEC, a networking organization uniting over 40 leading IT and security companies in Belgium. The book has been presented to the public 28 Februari at the L-SEC Identity Management and eID Congress.

Best Practice for Applications using the electronic Identity Card (eID)” is co-authored by Kim Van Esbroeck (Integri, a Clear2Pay company), Sylvie Lacroix (SEALED), Olivier Delos (SEALED), Marc Vael (Protiviti), Ronny Bjones (Microsoft), Carlo Schüpp (Deloitte), Pieter Danhieux (Ernst & Young), Gilbert Van fraeyenhoven (Ernst & Young), Jurgen Truyen (Loungemark), Jos Dumortier (time.lex), Geert Somers (time.lex).

The book can be ordered via www.sealed.be and costs 35 euros.
